As Regional Director, Partnerships, in Vancouver, Paul Austin acts as the focal point for identifying, developing and nurturing relationships with the financial sector, SMEs and industry as well as provincial governments, academia and non-governmental stakeholders within the region.
Paul has 25 years of global marketing and business development experience working in range of sectors including mining and metals processing, tier 1 automotive parts, large information systems integration, and wireless enterprise software. Paul entered the cleantech industry in 2004 as Vice President Sales and Marketing for a technology enabled service provider in contaminated sites remediation and brownfield development. Paul has worked for both large multi-nationals and small start-ups firms and his career includes management and executive positions with Mitsubishi Canada Ltd, Hughes Aircraft Company/Raytheon, Telus, MDSI Mobile Data Solutions Inc. and Sonic Environmental Solutions.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from Queen’s University.
Donald McInnes is the Executive Vice Chairman of Alterra Power Corp., a British Columbia-based renewable power development company with a broad portfolio of clean energy projects.
Donald currently serves as Chairman of the Clean Energy Association of British Columbia and is a director of Prostate Cancer Canada, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award-British Columbia and Yukon Division and is a Governor of the British Columbia Business Council. He was a participant in the inaugural year (2010) of the SFU Leadership Exchange Program for the Industry Council for Aboriginal Business and was bestowed a Doctor of Technology honoris causa from the BC Institute of Technology in 2009. As well, he was a finalist for the 2008 and a recipient of the 2011 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Pacific Division Cleantech category. McInnes is a frequent public speaker and contributor to the debate on public policy and the integration and value of clean power.
Peter provides the strategic leadership for Endurance Wind Power's daily operations, engineering and manufacturing departments. He has held CEO, COO and Vice-President positions developing & commercializing industrial products for growing & early stage alternative energy and technology companies.
Peter has also held various positions in the automotive industry worldwide, including Managing Director, Business Manager, Program Manager and Sales Engineer for such firms as Ingersoll-Rand and Walbro Automotive. As a Management Consultant for Ernst & Young LLP, he specialized in improving manufacturing operations and product development for industrial and automotive companies.
Peter has Mechanical Engineering degree from Queen's University and an MBA from the University of Detroit-Mercy.
Kirk brings over 25 years of technical, operational, and investment experience in energy technologies to the Yaletown team. Kirk serves on the boards of Yaletown's portfolio companies Endurance Wind Power, CoolEdge Lighting, EnerG2, LaCima and Microstaq and manages Yaletown's investment in Calisolar (merged with 6N Silicon).
Kirk joined Yaletown in 2002 after 13 years with fuel cell company, Ballard Power, where he directed numerous activities including research & development, operations, corporate administration, and special projects. Most recently, as Director of Corporate Development he analyzed target companies for strategic transactions, negotiated intellectual property licenses, formed joint development agreements and conducted post-merger integrations.
He previously managed engineering teams and major projects at MacDonald Dettwiler here in Vancouver, and several disk drive companies in Silicon Valley and Canada. Kirk attended San Jose State University and holds 11 patents related to his work in clean energy technology.
Ian Heine is a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers providing tax consulting services, including: entity formation, financing, international business expansion, M&A, executive compensation, SR&ED and other tax related incentives. His clients include large multinational public entities, private companies, venture capital funds as well as emerging start-ups and entrepreneurs.
Ian is involved in discussions regarding tax policy and tax incentives, and has articled and presented on a number of industry and taxation related topics, including as a contributor to PwC’s Going Green Tables. He currently serves as a mentor for the Centre4Growth Clinic Days, as a member of the BCTIA’s SR&ED Advisory Committee, as a member of the Board of Directors for the Vancouver Enterprise Forum and as a member of the Taxation Professional Advisory Committee for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia (ICABC).
Ian is a Chartered Accountant, holds a Commerce Degree from the University of British Columbia and has been with PwC since 1995.
