The ZymeCAD™ platform was designed and built from the ground up to be the most comprehensive platform for in silico protein modeling and engineering, incorporating advanced hot spot identification and mutagenesis tools in a modular and scalable platform.
Based on the success of their approach and pipeline of products Zymeworks closed over $14 million in financing in July & August this year.
Dr. Tehrani is one of Zymeworks' co-founders and currently serves as President and CEO of the company. He has been an integral part of many of the Company's corporate achievements including raising seed and angel financing and overseeing the Company's technical operations and patent filings. Dr. Tehrani holds both Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts, and has a Doctoral degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of British Columbia.
Sandy Scott, Tandem Expansion Fund
Sandy Scott began his career in Silicon Valley in 1999 as an investment banker with the CSFB Technology Group focused on software and internet transactions. He followed this with several years at Vector Capital where he invested in later stage turnaround, buyout, and spin-out opportunities and where he was extensively involved in the acquisition and turnaround of Corel Corporation.
Subsequently, Sandy turned his focus to entrepreneurship with time in the digital media space at Trouvé Media and then leading sales and marketing efforts for Panjiva, a New York City technology startup focused on facilitating global trade.
Sandy graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Computer Science and Economics and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.
Jim Fletcher, OMERS Ventures
Jim Fletcher is a 30-year veteran of the Canadian venture capital industry. He has participated actively across all funding stages from founding management through personal angel investment, institutional venture capital, corporate venture investment and a variety of public and private exits. He has also been actively involved in many public policy initiatives designed to foster a healthy Canadian environment for early-stage companies and venture investors.
Jim has been a Managing Director with Ventures West and Chrysalix Energy Management, overseen corporate venture investing as Treasurer of MacMillan Bloedel, and was founder and CEO of China Capital, CFO of the Angus Reid Group, and a Director of many technology companies. He currently chairs the Boards of Vision Critical Communications Inc., Recombo Inc. and Tyze Personal Networks Inc.
Jim is also actively involved in the non-profit and social enterprise sector. He was a founding partner of BC Technology Social Venture Partners, has served on many other non-profit Boards and is engaged in public policy initiatives to enhance social finance.
Jim has an Engineering Physics degree from Queen’s University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He worked with Morgan Stanley in corporate finance before migrating to venture capital.
Brent Holliday, Capital West Partners
Brent is head of the Technology Practice for Capital West Partners, a mid-market, transaction focused investment bank in Vancouver.
He started the technology practice at Capital West in early 2008 after 12 years in venture capital investing in early stage technology companies across Canada and in the US with BDC and Greenstone Venture Partners.
Capital West primarily performs M&A advisory and late stage capital raising for Western Canadian companies.
Brent is also a long time columnist and commentator on the BC technology landscape and is currently a monthly contributor to BC Business magazine. Brent remains very active in the technology finance community from start-up to late stage financing to public offerings. He currently sits on the Board of VEF and is a former member of BC TIA, VIATeC and New Media BC Boards.
He has an MBA from the University of British Columbia and an Honours B.Sc. from the University of Western Ontario.
